An Update on the Coronavirus

Info Release #1 - March 13, 2020

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt.” – Exo 12:13 NKJV

Dear New Covenant Assembly (NCA) Family,

As the concern around COVID-19 (coronavirus) grows, we want to ensure you are informed about the actions we are taking to protect our church community. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is leading the evaluation, assessment & response in Alberta; therefore, we will follow the public guidance and direction from AHS in response to this event.

Based on AHS public recommendations, here’s the summary of the situation at this time:

  • COVID-19 risk to Calgary & Alberta as a province is low.

  • The AHS recommendation to cancel large gathering of more than 250 people or international events “does not extend to places of worship, grocery stores, airports or shopping centres”.

    • The above means that Churches are allowed to hold services.

  • NCA regular services will hold as usual.  Sundays at 9am & 11am.  Fridays at 7pm.

  • If anything changes based on AHS updates & advice, we shall communicate immediately.

To ensure continued safety of everyone coming to NCA, we have adopted the following measures:

  • In addition to the regular cleaning of our facility, we are prioritizing frequent cleaning and sanitizing of high touch areas like doorknobs, POS machines etc.

  • No hand shaking and hugging for now, lets greet one another with smiles, hand wave, or elbow-bump.

  • Frequent cleaning and sanitizing of main sanctuary, washrooms, youth & children church, offices etc.

  • If you or your child(ren) feel ill, please stay at home and participate by watching the service online via Facebook, NCA website or NCA app.

  • If you have symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or have traveled recently out of Canada or have been exposed to COVID-19, please stay at home and call the Alberta Health Link by dialling 811.

  • If you need prayers or clarification about this letter please call our Health / Prayer Line: 587-747-3991

These personal hygiene habits are further recommended:

  • Proper hand washing protocols: The most effective way to prevent the spread of the virus is to wash our hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.

  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers frequently.

  • Sneeze into your elbow or tissue, rather than into the air or your hands.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, face and mouth, with hands.

We will continue to monitor the situation, implement any new recommendations set by AHS, and keep you updated.

Finally, as Christians, we should not give in to fear nor panic due to the ongoing global pandemic.  “Fear has torment” – 1 John 4:18.  Rather we remain confident in God’s protection over us according to His Word! … “For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” – 2Tim 1:12.

Remember, by the blood of Jesus & our faith in God, we have access to “exemption & protection” privileges!
