“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
- 1 John 5:14 (NKJV)
Prayer: The Believer’s Lifeline to God
Prayer serves as the believer's vital connection to God. It is a powerful conduit that bridges the gap between His promises and their manifestation in our lives. However, not every prayer yields results. For a prayer to be truly effective, it must meet one essential criterion: alignment with God’s Word.
Concurrence with God’s Will
Concurrence means agreement. To be heard and answered by God, our prayers must resonate with His will as expressed in Scripture. When we pray in accordance with His Word, we activate the power of heaven here on earth.
The Bible assures us in 1 John 5:14 that when we pray according to His will, He hears us. His will is unveiled in Scripture, which encompasses His promises, commands, and desires for His children. A prayer grounded in His Word carries the authority of heaven.
Searching the Scriptures
Before you pray, delve into the Scriptures to discover what God has already declared about your circumstances. For instance:
In Need of Provision? Pray Philippians 4:19 (NKJV): “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
In Need of Peace? Pray Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV): “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
When your prayers align with God’s will, you can approach Him with confidence, knowing that He hears you. This confidence is rooted not in feelings but in faith in His unchanging character and promises.
A prayer that concurs with Scripture carries the authority of heaven and assures us of divine intervention.
God Is Tuned In
Imagine God with headphones, as Psalm 34:15 (NKJV) affirms: “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.” He is always attentive to the prayers of the righteous. When your prayers are anchored in His Word, you can trust that God is listening.
Pray with boldness, free from doubt. When your requests align with God’s will, believe that answers are on the horizon.
Prayer as Worship
Prayer is not merely a means to present requests; it is an act of worship. God delights in prayers that magnify His Word and glorify His name. The prayers of the saints are likened to incense rising before Him (Revelation 5:8).
When we pray according to God’s will, we are declaring His faithfulness and sovereignty over those situations. This creates an atmosphere of worship that invites His presence and power.
Divine Authority in Prayer
God listens to prayers that harmonize with His Word. A prayer that concurs with Scripture carries the authority of heaven and assures us of divine intervention.
