Capacity in Barrenness

August 15, 2024

“Enlarge the place of your tent and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited."

 - Isaiah 54:2-3 (NKJV)

When in a state of barrenness, the instinct is to do all that is within our power to achieve a positive outcome. Depending on the situation, we may pray, fast, apply for jobs, carry out medical tests and many more to influence the results in our favour. This is right to do however, many don’t think about building the capacity to receive and sustain the answers to their prayers.

Building capacity in a place of barrenness activates our faith and triggers deliverance from the obstacles we are facing. It is important to prepare for our miracles by building capacity. The idea is to do something to show that you are ready to be a recipient. As Christians, we have a responsibility to stretch, enlarge and expand to avoid wasting any opportunity that presents itself. In our referenced Bible text, God has guaranteed that the barren who praise in difficulty will carry more children than married women.

The instruction to enlarge the place of your tent is a directive to demonstrate faith that expansion is coming... even if you can’t see it yet.

Building capacity in a place of barrenness activates our faith and triggers deliverance from the obstacles we are facing.

Hence, step out in faith and demonstrate that you are creating space, creating capacity for the increase you believe is coming. Is it a new job or role, can you start by training for your new role. Believing God for a child, could you start creating room and shopping for your babies or just practicing your dance steps for your upcoming celebration?

Taking steps like these may seem illogical based on present circumstances but our God is faithful, and His words shall not return to Him empty.

By lengthening our cords and strengthening our stakes, we are building resilience and fortifying our foundation. These actions ensure that when expansion occurs, it is sustainable, secure and capable of turning desolate areas of our lives to bountiful harvests.

Building capacity during times of lack is not just about preparing for more but also about becoming stronger and more determined. It is a learning process that aligns us with God's plans for our lives.

Song of Worship

Till the race is finished – 1x

And the work is done – 1x

We’ll walk by faith - 1x

And not by sight - 1x

Prayer - Dear Lord, give us the courage to step out in faith and trust in your word. May we see opportunities to expand, stretch and enlarge in preparation of your word over our lives In Jesus’ name. Amen.
