Celebrate His Goodness, Expect His Greatness

April 02, 2025

So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord”

- 2 Samuel 6:21 (NKJV)

Gratitude is a powerful force in the life of a believer. It shifts our focus from what is lacking to what God has already done. King David grasped this principle fully. When he danced before the Lord as the Ark of the Covenant was brought into Jerusalem, he wasn’t simply celebrating an event—he was recognizing God’s goodness in his life.

Thanksgiving Sustains the Presence of God.

David responded to Michal’s criticism by saying, “So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord.” (2 Samuel 6:21). He understood that honoring God with thanksgiving was the key to keeping His divine presence.

God’s presence follows those who are grateful. If you want to be a carrier of His presence, you must be a person of thanksgiving. Complaining pushes God away, but gratitude invites Him in.

Thanksgiving is a spiritual weapon.

Thanksgiving Changes Your Perspective

David remembered where God brought him from—a shepherd boy forgotten by his own family, yet chosen by God to be king. He declared, “Who chose me instead of your father and all his house…” (2 Samuel 6:21 NKJV). When you thank God, you stop focusing on what is missing and start appreciating how far He has brought you. It forces you to acknowledge His faithfulness in your life.

Thanksgiving Prepares You for More Blessings

David’s attitude of thanksgiving secured his place in God’s favor. In contrast, Michal, who scorned his gratitude, remained barren for the rest of her life.

Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death” (2 Samuel 6:23). Ingratitude shuts doors, while gratitude opens them and multiplies blessings.

Thanksgiving is a spiritual weapon. It sustains God’s presence, changes your perspective, and prepares you for greater blessings.

Today, take time to reflect and thank God for what He has done. If you can thank Him for yesterday’s blessings, you will position yourself for tomorrow’s miracles.

A grateful heart attracts God’s presence and blessings. Choose Thanksgiving today!
