Lift up your heads o ye gates and be ye lifted ye everlasting doors. That the King of Glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle." - Psalm 24:7- 8
A new month is a new beginning, it can signify a time to start afresh. As observed with every new beginning, it could also come with peculiar challenges—its own gates. As believers, it is our responsibility to command the gates to be opened unto us.
We might contemplate which gates to command to open in our favour. Depending on our needs or desires, we can speak into the opening of gates for our blessings, favour, answered prayers, breakthroughs and spiritual growth. We can be confident that the gates will open when spoken to as Jeremiah 20:11 affirms that the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior. We need not fear or worry as to whether the gates will open when the Lord is on our side because they surely will.
In Job 38:12 the Lord asked Job if he had commanded the morning. From this, we understand that a day can be commanded, and if a day can be commanded, it means that a week, a month and even a year can be commanded.
As believers, we are not to approach any day or month recklessly; rather we must exercise thoughtful consideration and diligence. Joshua’s direction to the children of Israel to follow the ark of covenant carefully because they had not gone that way before (Joshua 3:4) is instructive for us. This is because we have not been into a new month before and we need the divine guidance of the lord to lead us.
The reality is that there are many risks inherent in a day and in a month and it is only when we seek assistance from the Lord that we can overcome. Remember that when God has been invited, He will arise on our behalf. In Isaiah 45: 2, God promised us as His children that He will go before us and make every crooked path straight. Thus, we must take advantage of this promise as we enter every new day and month.
As believers, we are not to approach any day or month recklessly; rather we must exercise thoughtful consideration and diligence.
Every new month unfolds hidden blessings and benefits. Except the Lord leads and directs us there, we may not see those hidden treasures and benefits, and this may be costly for our destiny. Therefore, our prayer should always be that the Lord should cause us to partake of our measure of the blessings ingrained in every new day and month.
Similarly, it is crucial we ask the Lord to protect us in this new month. Psalm 91:11-12, states that “He will give His angels charge over you lest you dash your foot against a stone”.
Therefore, it is our responsibility to ask the Lord to protect us every new month. As children of God, we have been promised in Zechariah 2:5 that He will be a wall of fire round about us. Even as there are hidden treasures in every month, so are there dangers and perils that we must resist daily and It is only through the help of God that we can overcome the dangers and perils fashioned by the enemy in a new month.
Today, we are inspired to speak into the opening of the gates for this new month because it is only through this action that we can initiate things to swing in our favour.

Prayer – March, hear the word of the Lord and lift up your head and usher in blessings, favour and spiritual growth to me in Jesus’ name. Amen. Let the gates that the Lord has prepared for me in this month of March be opened unto me.
