" For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds"
- 2 Corinthians 10:4 NKJV
As Christians, we are God’s representatives on earth, meaning we are called to consciously participate in the establishment of His kingdom here. Every child of God is wired for an assignment towards that end. This requires an active engagement, a call to arms.
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 reminds us, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." This clearly shows that we are equipped with divine power to combat the forces of darkness.
It is God's will that we resist the activities of darkness in our lives and in the world around us. This requires discernment and vigilance. It is not wise to be naive or undiscerning in this world. The Bible warns us not to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). There is warfare, and as Christians, we cannot afford to sit on the fence. We are called to engage in this battle, not with physical weapons, but with spiritual ones, especially in the place of prayer.
As Christians, we use spiritual weapons to advance God’s kingdom and fight from victory.
In prayer, we need to take dominion over our communities; fight against crime and moral decay. We also need to take charge of our families, to shut down the forces that destroy marriages and corrupt the upbringing of our children. We should also prayerfully take charge of our electoral systems to install the right leaders.
To effectively fulfill this role, we must yield to the Holy Spirit and be committed to establishing what the Word of God says about us, our families, and society at large.
God wants to partner with us to ensure that the earth becomes an extension of His kingdom, as Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:9-10: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." There is no room for timidity or fear. We are not alone in this battle; we are fighting from a place of victory because we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us (Romans 8:37).
Today, let us consciously unleash our spiritual armour and stand firm against the enemy at the gate. Let the warrior within you rise up, shutting down the enemy's attacks, recovering what has been lost, and advancing the kingdom of God. Remember, God is for you.
