...for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—
such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Colossians 1:16
As we explore the mystery of creation, it is essential to recognize that God's creative power extends beyond the visible world. Colossians 1:16 reminds us that everything, both seen and unseen, was created by God. We will delve into the significance of light in creation and how it represents knowledge necessary for solving problems and creating new things in our lives.
The creation of the earth was a spectacular event that caused the heavens to rejoice. While God was in the process of creating the earth, the angels and all the heavenly beings sang and praised Him for His marvelous works. This is a testament to the inspiring nature of God’s creation, both visible and invisible.
When we read Genesis 1:1-3, we see the account of how God created the heavens and the earth. However, between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, there is an understanding that other beings, such as angels, were also created. Although not explicitly mentioned in this part of the creation account, Colossians 1:16 confirms that all things, visible and invisible, were created by God.
In Genesis 1:3, “Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” This was not just the creation of physical light, but also the establishment of a principle: for creation to occur or for any problem to be solved, there must first be light. This light represents knowledge and understanding.
In 2 Corinthians 4:6, Paul writes, " For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ." This scripture reveals that light is synonymous with knowledge. To solve any problem or create anything, we need the light of knowledge. Just as God brought forth light before creating the world, we must seek knowledge to bring forth solutions and innovations in our lives.
The principle that light (knowledge) is essential for creation is a profound truth. Whether we are dealing with physical, spiritual, or emotional challenges, the first step is to seek light—understanding and wisdom. Without light, we remain in darkness, unable to see the way forward.
Just as God began creation with light, we must begin our endeavors with the light of knowledge. Whether it's starting a new project, resolving a conflict, or seeking personal growth, we need God's light to guide us. This light comes through prayer, studying the Word, and seeking counsel from the Holy Spirit.
The mystery of creation and the power of light reveal the depth of God’s wisdom and majesty. When we embrace the light of knowledge, we can face challenges with confidence and create new things in our lives. Remember, God is the source of all light, both visible and invisible, and He desires to shine His light into every area of your life. Seek Him, and let His light guide you in all your endeavors.
