Dreams and Assignments

MARCH 19, 2024

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  - Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)

A quarter of the book of Genesis was written about Joseph – the dreamer. Take notice of this, because when God spends time on a person, it is important to understand what God is trying to teach us. Dreams hold fundamental importance to God. Throughout scripture we see how God makes dreams come true then He brings out the assignment from the dream.

Esther, and all the maidens of that age, were competing for the crown.

Esther had dreamt of being queen – but the assignment was to preserve the children of God. Joseph had a dream of being the head over his brothers, father and mother (leading the family of Israel), but after leaving his family he found the assignment. In Genesis 45 - Joseph said, ‘God has sent me, to preserve you’.

To fully engage your dreams, first you must understand that the dream is only the beginning, it is a gateway to a bigger assignment.

For Joseph, leading the family of Israel would have been a small group of people (Joseph’s parents, brothers, sister in laws, nephews and nieces – only 70 of them went into Egypt) – but to Joseph they were a ‘great people.’ Joseph eventually led an entire nation – but he knew the purpose was to save His family (God’s great people) for the promises of God to be made manifest.

For both Esther and Joseph, their dreams became a birthing canal of their assignments.

To fully engage your dreams, first you must understand that the dream is only the beginning, it is a gateway to a bigger assignment. Next, spend time in the Word to unveil God’s will and activate its creative power. Also, praise God to invoke His presence to direct you, fill you with peaceful assurance and His love. Lastly, take a stand and prophecy giving voice to the Word to give you power to bring the dreams to fruition. Tomorrow we will explore the 3 paths to discovering your dreams, Until then, say this prayer of thanksgiving and expectation.

I have a Father, He calls me His own

He’ll never leave me, no matter where I go.

Song: He Knows my Name by Maranatha Singers

Dear Father, thank you so much for the assurance that You have a beautiful and divine plan for my life. I open up my heart to the assignment that you have for me embedded in my dreams. Grant me the courage and vision to begin to walk in the reality of Your will for the fulfillment of my assignment in Jesus Name. Amen
