Faith as a Force

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

-  Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

Faith is an active, supernatural force capable of changing circumstances and creating new realities. In today’s devotional, we explore how faith operates, especially when we encounter the contradictions of life—those moments when our reality doesn’t align with God’s promises.

The story in Acts 3:1-16 illustrates a profound contradiction: a lame man lying at the temple gate called "Beautiful." This paradox—an ugly situation in a beautiful location—underscores the need for faith. How can someone be in a place of worship, where miracles are expected, and yet remain in suffering?

Similarly, in our lives, we may find ourselves in seemingly "beautiful" situations—surrounded by abundance on the outside while feeling unfulfilled within. This disconnect calls for the force of faith to bridge the gap.

Faith is the answer to contradictions. The Bible tells us that by faith, women received their dead raised to life, and kingdoms were subdued (Hebrews 11:33-35). When we apply faith, we tap into God's ability to turn our circumstances around, no matter how dire they may seem.

In 2 Kings 2:19, the people of Jericho faced another contradiction: a city with a beautiful location yet cursed, producing bad water and unfruitful land. It was only when faith was applied—through the prophet Elisha—that the city’s situation changed.

The contradictions of life are opportunities for the force of faith to shine.

Faith is not a passive belief but a forceful, deliberate action. Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith requires trust in Him and a bold step toward His promises, even when circumstances appear impossible.

The lame man at the Beautiful Gate acted in faith when Peter commanded him to rise and walk. It wasn’t just Peter’s words; it was the man’s response—his willingness to act in faith—that led to his miracle.

As Newton’s First Law of Motion states, things remain in their current state unless acted upon by an external force. In the spiritual realm, faith is that external force. It moves mountains, changes destinies, and disrupts the natural order to align with God’s purposes.

Whether you face financial lack amid abundance or a broken spirit in a joyful setting, the force of faith can reverse your situation. Take a step of faith today in an area that feels stagnant.

The contradictions of life are opportunities for the force of faith to shine. As you embrace faith today, expect transformations, breakthroughs, and miracles in Jesus’ name.
