14 “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
- Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)
Of all living things created in the world, man stands out. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and this uniqueness towers above other creatures created by God. There is an anointing provided by the Holy Spirit that makes us recognisable before God - a likeness that He alone can bestow.
God is intentional about everything; all His works are considered marvelous yet, He gave us His likeness which means that we have a higher standard to live by. We are held accountable to God because in His likeness, we are bound by a sense of morality and wisdom. This separates us from other living things, we know that which is right and that which is wrong. We have commandments and laws to guide our daily walk with God.
Yet sometimes, we fall short.
We have been summoned to be imitators of God as His children, to walk in love and in light.
Sin encompasses all forms of wrongdoing and unrighteousness, deviation from what is just and right in God’s sight. And committing sin separates us from God and dents our resemblance to Him.
However, with the coming of Jesus Christ, whose crucifixion and resurrection created an avenue to leave mistakes in the past, we become a new creation and realign with God’s purpose for our lives.
We have been summoned to be imitators of God as His children, to walk in love and in light. And our faith in Christ as born-again children of God makes it possible for us to attain our Godlikeness again, in Christ.
Our walk with God may not always be smooth, because there will be bumps on the way especially in the world that we live in. We may fall short of His Glory at times but if we are steadfast and we trust in Him, we will recognise His likeness in us and His image in every situation.
Ultimately, we can be restored to that truth if we seek God’s help and lean on Christ.
Any errors you make do not have the power to take you out of God’s image in Christ. Abide in Christ, continue in prayer even if you feel guilt or shame. Call on Him and He will answer and restore you to Himself.

Song My Heart, Your Home by Women of Faith
Prayer - Dear Lord, thank you for considering me worthy to be molded in your likeness. May I always recognise Your presence in every situation and when I fall short, give me the strength to look upon the cross, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
