Having Dominion over Trouble

September 14, 2024

" Jesus got into the boat again and went back to the other side of the lake, where a large crowd gathered around him on the shore. Then a leader of the local synagogue, whose name was Jairus, arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, pleading fervently with him. “My little daughter is dying,” he said. “Please come and lay your hands on her; heal her so she can live”

 - Mark 5: 21- 23 (NLT)

Jairus prayed and Jesus answered his prayer immediately.  However, it took some time for the manifestation to appear in the physical realm. He asked Jesus to follow him, and immediately, Jesus did. That was the moment Jesus answered. The moment between when he got up to go to Jairus’ house and when he got there, was the waiting period. The manifestation occurred when the healing happened.

When we pray, Jesus answers, but we need to stay on the matter until there is a physical manifestation.   How then do we master the ‘trouble’ between God answering our prayers, and the physical manifestation of the prayers?

When we pray, Jesus answers, but we need to stay on the matter until there is a physical manifestation.

The first thing to do is to stand by. This means waiting for a manifestation of what we have prayed for. In the waiting period, you begin to hear testimonies of the things we have asked God for. The woman with the issue of blood received her healing instantly – what Jairus prayed for and was still waiting for manifestation about! When someone else receives an answer to our same prayer, it should encourage us that God has answered our own prayers, and we should be on standby to receive it. We should be still in his presence and wait for him to act and rejoice with those who have received their testimonies.

Secondly, we must learn to silence some things. We must learn to silence the wailers and mockers. The wailers are people that focus only on the hopelessness of the case. In Mark 5:39 Jesus tells the wailers off. We must silence them and not join them in wailing. Mockers are those who focus on the ‘senselessness’ of the word we are carrying, people who try to belittle our firm belief.   In 2 Kings 7:1-2 – the mockers mocked the prophet who was giving the people a message of hope. We must not be mockers, and we must not indulge mockers.

Thirdly, we must speak up. In Mark 5: 39 Jesus told them that the child was not dead but only sleeping. We speak according to what we desire and must speak faithfully. In Mark 5:41, Jesus finally laid his hands on the little girl and commanded her to get up. He did not actually need to lay his hands on her, but if we remember Jairus’ prayer, he asked Jesus to lay hands on her.

We must persist in the place of prayer, confront, and have dominion entirely over trouble. May God help us in Jesus’ name.

Song of Worship

I don't mind waiting

(Yes, He is) I don't mind waiting

(The battle is already been fought)

(And the victory is already mine) I don't mind waiting

(I don't mind waiting) On The Lord

Song I don't mind waiting by Jonathan Butler

Prayer - Dear Lord, help us to deflect and evade trouble. Help us to gain full and total dominion over trouble, so that our lives can be full of peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
