Ignite your Desires in Faith

MARCH 8, 2024

Therefore, I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24 KJV

We often fall short of greatness due to a lack of desire. The Bible is clear in this opening verse on how to receive whatever our heart desires. The bedrock has always been the desire. To fulfill the desires of one’s heart in accordance with Gods will, certain traits are necessary. The flip side is also true, there are certain things we should steer clear of on the path to realizing our desires in Christ. Today, as continue our exploration of faith, we will explore different categories of people and how they approach their desires.

1. Those that only desire but do not pray.

These individuals fail to proceed with the subsequent steps outlined in the opening verse. This is synonymous with ‘window shopping’ in a boutique with no funds to buy what you see. They have a strong passion for things, they speak so much about how beautiful their desires would look on them but are not ready to pay the price. They want to operate at an elevated level of grace, but do not pray or make out time to meditate on the scripture.

2. Those that deep down have no serious desire for what they are asking for.

Many of us are operating on this level, we see the time of prayer as the time to do ‘other things’ rather than focus on Jesus. It simply means, we are only praying with our mouths while our hearts are far away from Him.

3. Those who are sincere in their desire and equally pray but do not continue to believe that they have received their desires.

You cannot manifest what you do not believe you have received.  James 1: 6 (KJV) This is where some believers miss it. They are not able to hold on to what they have received in the place of prayer. Remember, it is the devil’s scope of work to make you lose faith, lose the word, lose even your desires for what God has said about your matter. Just like the devil told Eve in Genesis 3:1b, ‘’And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

You cannot manifest what you do not believe you have received.

When you find yourself doubting if your praise, prayer, midnight sessions, coming to church, or even your sacrifices are making a difference, that is the devil whispering into your ears, “has God said….?’’ just like he did to Eve. Whenever you feel this way, know that the answer is close by, the enemy just wants you to lose what you already received. Hold on there, hang on tight and never let go of what God has said concerning your situation.

4. Lastly, those who sincerely desire, are consistently in a place of prayer, believe in their heart that they have the answers according to the word of God and they eventually see their desires come to life

This is where we have been called to be as believers. Do not let go of what God has promised no matter how long it takes, ‘He is not a man that He should lie...or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?’ (Numbers 23:19). Wait and see, and surely, He will prove Himself good in bringing your desires to life! You will hold the manifestation of your desire in your hands—your baby, your increase, that job, your healing, they will all come in the name of Jesus.

Amen.

                                                     Song of Worship

Lord, I give You, my heart.

I give You, my soul.

I live for you alone.

And every breath that I take.

Every moment I'm awake.

Lord, have Your way in me.

Prayer – Lord, help us to not only desire, but follow through on our desires never wavering—being sure that what You promised, You will also bring to pass. In Jesus Name. Amen
