Invoking Jehovah Nissi in Times of Manipulation

“And it came to pass, whenever the stronger livestock conceived, that Jacob placed the rods before the eyes of the livestock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods. But when the flocks were feeble, he did not put them in; so, the feebler were Laban’s and the stronger Jacob’s.”

The final indication that we need the intervention of Jehovah Nissi in our lives is when we find ourselves wanting to manipulate results in our favor. To manipulate means to control masterfully. When faced with a looming negative outcome, we can disrupt that result through the power of Jehovah Nissi.
In Exodus 17, during the battle between the Israelites and the Amalekites, Joshua led the troops into combat while Moses stood on a hill, holding the staff of God. When Moses raised his hands, the Israelites prevailed; when his hands fell, the enemy gained the upper hand. Moses realized that inaction would lead to Joshua's defeat against the Amalekites. By invoking the intervention of Jehovah Nissi, he averted that impending negative outcome.
God is your banner of victory.
Similarly, Jacob faced a significant challenge with his employer and relative, Laban, who had manipulated their agreement to ensure that Jacob received little to nothing from their partnership. However, Jacob, filled with wisdom and trust in God, took strategic action. He placed selectively chosen rods before the stronger livestock during mating, ensuring that the best animals became his. This act of faith and strategy altered the results in his favor. Jacob didn’t resign himself to Laban’s unjust treatment; he sought Jehovah Nissi for both spiritual and practical advantage.
Are you currently in a situation where someone, like Laban, is holding you back or denying you what is rightfully yours? It is time to awaken and overturn the circumstances to your advantage. Like Jacob, prayerfully seek wisdom to take strategic action. Like Moses, lift your hands to Jehovah Nissi and trust Him to fight on your behalf.
If the odds seem stacked against you, remember that God is your banner of victory. Pray for His intervention and believe that He is working behind the scenes to bring about justice and favor in your life!
