“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.’’
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
Welcome to today’s devotional - It is working. Today’s reading is meant to strengthen your faith, appreciate God’s love, give you hope, and instill confidence knowing fully well that your prayers and service to God are working. Everything happening around you, and your circumstances are only serving one purpose- working out for your good.
Let us take a trip down to the Red Sea and review life lessons from the ordeal of the Israelites at this make or mar moment in their history.
The Israelites just escaped the claws of slavery and the jaws of Pharaoh having been enslaved for 430 years. What a moment! It was like a dream come true.
Moses had just told Pharaoh that the Israelites were on a mission to go and worship God (Exodus 5:1). God granted them favour with their taskmasters who gave them all they asked for (Exodus 12:36). While in transit out of Egypt, God even provided an executive escort for the Israelites with a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, so they do not miss their way (Exodus 13:21). Finally, they journeyed, got to the Red Sea. When faced by this seemingly insurmountable obstacle, they murmured among themselves ‘’God has forgotten us’’.
Everything happening around you, and your circumstances are only serving one purpose—working out for your good.
Wait! Before you slam the gavel and pass judgement on the Israelites, don’t we do the same today?
When things do not turn out in our favour, we stop going to church, blame God or stop serving in His house. It is amazing how fast the Israelites forgot how God preserved them and gave them favour to plunder the Egyptians. Even in slavery, they multiplied and became stronger than their captors. Okay, enough of the Israelites, what about you? When the interview didn’t go the way you wanted, did you yet worship God in your circumstance or did you blame Him instead? Remember, ALL things work together for your good.
Back to our Israelites’ story, the Red Sea was a dead end. They had come to a place where the memories of God’s goodness vanished, His faithfulness over the years meant nothing to them at this point. But God had a plan.
He allowed them to come to that end so that Pharaoh and his hosts could be drowned in the sea when they went through it. In the same vein, you must trust His word when He says ALL things (not some) work together for your good. Your experiences, the mountains and the valleys you have been through, the good and the bad outcomes will only lead to one thing - your good. It is working!

Prayer - Lord, help us to trust in Your perfect timing and to remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that Your plans for us are good. May we be patient and hopeful, confident that You are working all things together for our good. Lord, strengthen us to persevere through challenges, to seek Your will in all things, and to walk in obedience to Your Word. Let our lives be a testament to Your faithfulness and love, Amen.
