Our Light in the Darkness

August 29, 2024

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

-Colossians 1:16 NKJV

A very interesting aspect of our anchor text today is that God made the things that are both visible and invisible. While the works of creation was going on, it would have been easy to conclude that the only things visibly perceived was all there is to the creation wonders. Easy, but also hasty and wrong.

The reality of the invisible is as real as the evidence of the visible works of creation. In Genesis 1:3, God said Let there be light”; and there was light. This pronouncement did not just bring forth light but also birthed the invincible, that is, the law of light. A law which implies that before any problem is solved, light must be present.

God made the things that are both visible and invisible.

In 2 Corinthians 4:6, we see God commanding light to shine out of darkness. You might be wondering where the light came from. The tangible reality in this instance was darkness and like most people today, that is all they see. The business that never worked, life’s curve balls, the obviously difficult economic realities, and the undeniable daily struggles.

Don’t be conformed to the dictates of the world that only expects light to come at the end of the tunnel. For a believer, there is light in every part of the tunnel. Right inside the darkness, as you travel through, right in that experience, your light shines forth. Even as you go through phases of darkness, God is with you, and He is about to make the invisible and the impossible a reality.

Song of Worship

All other gods

They are the works of men

You are the only God

There is none like You

Prayer - Heavenly Father, I thank You for the light that shines even in the midst of darkness. Help me to see beyond the visible challenges and recognize the invisible works You are doing in my life. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your presence and power, knowing that You are turning the impossible into reality. In Jesus' name, Amen.
