Prophetic Instructions

November 08, 2024

" His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.’’

- John 2:5 (NKJV)

In our last study, we looked at prophetic actualization as the ability to recognize the need for the supernatural in our physical realms. Today, our focus will be on activating the power of the prophetic through instructions. Some of the things associated with the prophetic are signs, wonders, and miracles. When there are no signs or nothing happening in life that is out of the ordinary, it indicates an absence of the prophetic. If everything you have achieved and every event occurring in your life is solely due to your human effort, it signals the need for prophetic intervention.

In 2 Kings 2:19-22 NKJV, Elisha had just been commissioned into the office of the prophet. The men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.” In the natural realm, everything seemed to be going well; the situation was pleasant. In that city, there would have been marriages and people going about their “normal” businesses. There was buying and selling, but the water was bad, and the ground was barren. Barrenness signifies either underproductivity or unproductivity. It means people were busy, but nothing was working. When the prophetic is in operation, it sees beyond the natural. When all efforts fail, activate prophetic intervention in the matter.

Obedience to prophetic instructions makes all the difference.

The prophetic addresses the source and provides a lasting solution to any issue. One of the ways to access the prophetic is through prophetic instructions. These are the words of God given to mortal men to prevail in the affairs of life. In John 2:7-8, the people needed wine, but Jesus gave them a prophetic instruction to fill the pots with water. Ordinarily, one might think that this instruction makes no sense. Logically, wine was needed, but water was provided. As they drew out the water in obedience, it became wine. Sometimes, the instructions received through the prophetic may seem nonsensical. You are called to obey, not to rationalize the instructions. There is no chemical reaction that would turn water into wine simply by pouring it into a jar.

Obedience to prophetic instructions makes all the difference.

Have you ever tried to assemble DIY furniture without consulting the manual? It can be frustrating and often leads to an endless loop of unsuccessful attempts. The same is true with prophetic instructions. They are like manuals through which God provides clarity over a matter and solutions to life’s mysteries. Just as Mary instructed the servants in John 2:5 at the marriage at Cana of Galilee, “Do whatever He tells you,” The same word is being spoken to you today: follow the prophetic instructions and watch as your situation turns around for your good.

Prayer - Lord, help me to trust and obey your word and every prophetic instruction you have sent to me. As I follow these instructions, let me water turn into wine and let there be supernatural results and testimonies.
