And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”

Today’s devotional is all about awakening you to the power of desire in provoking a blessing. At this point in the series over the past few days, you likely have already come to appreciate the power of a blessing. You have probably realized how much of a game-changer in life a blessing can be and are aware of the people in your life that are divinely appointed to release a blessing upon your life.
There is a central role that desire plays in provoking a blessing. In Genesis 32:22-28, we read an account of Jacob’s demonstration of a strong desire to be blessed, where he wrestled with the angel of God all night. Wrestling is indicative of desire. His name was changed,and a powerful blessing declared upon him.
How badly do you desire a blessing? Is there a true desire inside you for the blessing to come upon you to completely change your life and destiny?
Desire plays a central role in provoking a blessing from God
We see another example in the prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4: 9 – 10, his desire was demonstrated in his willingness to pray. If Jabez did not believe in the power of a blessing from God to turn the curse around, he would not have prayed as he did.
What is truly encouraging here is that the Bible says, “And God granted his request”. You can provoke a blessing from God. When you combine a burning desire for the blessing with your earnest and fervent prayer, God will respond to you as He did to Jacob and Jabez.
What blessing do you seek from God today? What transformation or turnaround do you need in your life? Pray with desire and believe for a release of the blessing from God today.

Prayer - Heavenly Father, I come to You today in faith and in earnest expectation to see Your blessing in every aspect of my life. Your blessing is what makes the difference in a person’s life. I see how far you have brought me, and I am deeply grateful. I now pray for Your blessing for the path ahead. Bless me indeed oh God! Let Your name be glorified in me. In Jesus name I ask Amen!
