Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
- Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the currency of the kingdom as we believers know; It is by faith that we access and lay hold of God’s promises. Faith is so important to God that the Bible states in Hebrews 11:6 that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Likewise, faith is an essential mechanism for provoking the manifestation of God’s power. Today, we will explore the concept of audacious faith. What does it mean? What are the attributes of audacious faith and how can we apply this knowledge to our lives to provoke the power of God and the manifestation of His miracles?
The word, audacious or having audacity means to be fearless, bold, and daring especially amid contradictory circumstances or situations. Audacious faith thus describes a person who exhibits radical and fearless faith. A person who believes in the promises and word of God so much that they develop a confident disregard for their current circumstances that do not yet seem to align with the promises they have received in the eyes of their spirit!
In seeking to deepen our understanding of audacious faith, we will now unpack four attributes of audacious faith.
First, audacious faith is curative. This means that irrespective of the situation, problem, adversity, or illness, etc. we face, this faith can cure it. Audacious faith is also insensitive to how long a problem has existed. When audacious faith is in action, the protocol is broken or bypassed. We see this in Acts 14:1-18 in the healing of the lame man in Lystra. Though this man had been crippled from birth, his audacious faith (verse 9) skipped the natural developmental processes and someone who had never used his legs a day in his life began to walk!
Second, audacious faith is subjective. This means that audacious faith is developed by the personal interpretation of what we hear. For instance, everyone who comes to church has the privilege of hearing the same word of God. However, not everyone receives and responds to the word in the same way. It is therefore important to devote time to ensuring that our faith is rooted in the word of God and to be sensitive to guarding our hearts from every distraction that may want to steal the word from our lives thereby inhibiting the working of miracles embedded in the word.
Third, audacious faith is quantitative. This implies that it is possible to measure a person’s faith. When a person has faith, it is visible. In Acts 14:9, Paul “saw that the lame man had faith to be healed.” Typically, the proof that a person does not have faith is that they are afraid or shaken by a situation. How can we measure or tell that we have faith? Our countenance changes when we hear the word of God. Hope comes alive!
Finally, audacious faith is descriptive. Audacious faith describes or gives us an idea of a person’s identity. In Acts 14:11, the audacious faith that Paul displayed in healing the lame man made the people around them describe him as a “god in human form”. One of the ways to show the world that we carry Divinity within us is by our audacious faith—our ability to fearlessly believe in possibility in the face of seemingly impossible circumstances. May the impossible be made possible for us through our audacious faith.
