Provoking His Power Through Relationship I

Read Numbers 14:21-23

As believers, we often find ourselves seeking God's power and blessings in our lives. But how do we truly tap into His divine empowerment? The answer lies in shifting our interaction with God from a transactional approach to a relational one.

To empower means to give power to or to authorize. Empowerment can transform our spiritual lives, but it requires a deep, relational connection with God rather than a mere transactional one.

Many Christians engage with God transactionally. We come to Him when we need something, offering our prayers and expecting answers much like a customer at a store. This approach limits the depth and richness of our spiritual experience. It reduces our interaction with God to a series of exchanges rather than a meaningful relationship.

In Numbers 14:21-23, God expresses His frustration with the Israelites for their transactional behavior. Despite witnessing numerous miracles, they doubted His presence and power at the first sign of trouble. This lack of trust and constant questioning of God's ability to keep His promise of taking them to the promised land demonstrated their immature faith.

God desires a deeper, continuous, and intimate relationship with us. He wants us to know Him and seek His presence in times of need and in every aspect of our lives. Paul, in Philippians 3:10, expresses this longing to know Christ and the power of His resurrection. This desire to know God goes beyond seeking His hand; it seeks His heart.

When we are relational with God, we are better positioned to receive His empowerment. Our faith grows, and we become more attuned to His will and guidance. Make time for God every day, not just when you need something. Develop a habit of prayer, worship, and reading His Word.

This relational approach allows us to truly know God. We move beyond surface-level interactions and develop a profound understanding of His character and love. Talk to God about your day, your thoughts, and your feelings. Listen to His voice and be open to His guidance.

Relational faith is resilient. It does not waver in the face of challenges because it is rooted in a deep, personal connection with God. Trust that God is with you always. Even when you can't see immediate answers to your prayers, believe in His faithfulness.

God is calling us to a higher level of interaction with Him. As we shift from a transactional approach to a relational one, we will provoke the power of God and have a deeper understanding of His love and power in our lives. Let us strive to know Him more each day, building a relationship that transforms our lives and glorifies His name.

Song of Worship

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave

The same power that commands the dead to wake

Same Power| Song by Jeremy Camp

Prayer - Dear Lord, help us to move beyond a transactional relationship with You. Teach us to seek Your face, not just Your hand. May we grow in our knowledge of You and develop a deep, abiding relationship with You. Empower us, Lord, as we walk closely with You. Let our faith be strong and our hearts be ever drawn to Your presence. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen
