Provoking His Power Through Worship

June 28, 2024

Serve the Lord with gladness;

Come before His presence with singing.

Know that the Lord, He is God;

It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;

We are His people and the sheep of His pasture

Psalm 100:2-3

The Bible teaches us that we can provoke the power of God in our lives through worship. This act of worship is not a mere ritual but a deep relational engagement with God. When we worship, we express deep love and respect for our Creator. True worship glorifies God and brings His presence into our midst.

As we saw in an earlier devotional, Psalm 100:2-3 instructs us to "serve the Lord with gladness" and "come before His presence with singing." This indicates a progression...

Thanksgiving: We start by entering His gates with thanksgiving, acknowledging His goodness and thanking Him for His blessings.

Praise: We move into His courts with praise, boasting about His mighty deeds and magnifying His name.

Worship: Finally, we enter His very presence through worship, where our focus is entirely on Him, filled with awe and reverence.

True worship goes beyond mere words, songs, or music. It involves our entire being—heart and spirit. Isaiah 29:13 warns against worship that is only lip service: "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me." Authentic worship must come from a heart that is aligned with God and a spirit that is in tune with Him.

Practical Steps to Deep Worship:

Examine Your Heart: Ensure your heart is free from grudges, bitterness, and sin. Approach God with a pure heart.

Engage Your Spirit: Worship in spirit by praying and singing in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:15). Let the Holy Spirit guide your worship.

Use Your Understanding: As powerful as worshiping in the spirit is, it is also good to sing and declare God’s greatness with your understanding. Recall His mighty works and proclaim His attributes.

As powerful as worshiping in the spirit is, it is also good to sing and declare God’s greatness with your understanding

Worship should be a daily practice. Just as Revelation 4 depicts the heavenly beings continually worshiping God by casting down their crowns and crying out "Holy, holy, holy," we too must maintain a constant attitude of worship. This deep love and respect should permeate every aspect of our lives, not just during worship services.

Worship is a powerful practice that brings us into the very presence of God. It’s an act of deep love and respect, where we honor God, magnify Him, and glorify Him. By worshipping in spirit and truth, we invite His presence into our lives, allowing His power to work mightily in us and through us. As we develop a lifestyle of worship, we will experience God’s power in new and profound ways.

Song of Worship

Worship the King x2

We are in His presence

To magnify His name

When we seek His face

Glory fills this place

As we worship the King

Prayer - Lord, we come before You with thanksgiving and praise.  We desire to worship You in spirit and truth. Purify our hearts and align our spirits with Yours. May our worship glorify You and invite Your powerful presence into our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
