And He has made us Kings and priests to His God and Father. To Him be glory and dominion, forever and ever. Amen . - Revelations 1:6
What is God restoring us to? He is restoring us to a position of Priesthood and Kingship. A higher level of functionality as a Priest and as a King. In Galatians 4:4, we see how an heir may not enjoy the privilege of kingship if he is a child. We can be kings and priests and still function as servants because we do not know how, this is the reason God wants to restore us.
How do we reign on earth? 1 Peter 2:9, says we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood to show forth the praise of God. Righteousness is God’s standard on the earth. Peace is God’s environment on the earth. Joy is God’s nature and character on the earth. Therefore, the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. When there is the expression of the righteousness of God, the peace of God and the joy of the Holy Ghost in our lives, then we are showing forth the praise of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. The standard of God, the environment of God and the peace of God should be expressed in our lives.
God is restoring us to have a quality and intimate relationship with Him. In 1 John 3:1, the bible says, Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God. Emotion is not love but love has emotions, God is restoring us into a realm where he can be emotional with us. Why? Psalms 42:7, says, Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me’ God wants to reveal deep secrets to us as His sons, He wants to show us deep things, but the quality and depth of information is dependent on our relationship with Him. Knowledge is power. A 10-year-old child will not be given car keys to drive but a 20-year-old child can be given the car keys as the child would have learnt to drive and is more matured. God is calling us to a relationship where He can show us deep things.
In Isaiah 45:4, the bible makes us understand that He has called us by name, He has surnamed us. God is putting His name in addition to our names. What a wonderful relationship! He has given us the spirit of adoption, by which we can call him Abba Father! He wants us to call Him, Daddy and have that special intimate relationship with Him.
I John 16: 12 – 14, Jesus Christ told His disciples that He had many things to tell them, but He could not because He was with them but when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, He would tell them everything. He wants us to have a deeper relationship with Him so that we are like Him.
