Revealing the Father

November 16, 2024

“Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”

- John 14:9 (NKJV)

The greatest aspect of Jesus' ministry wasn’t just His miracles or profound teachings, rather it was His mission to reveal the Father to us. Jesus came not only to perform signs and wonders but to show us the heart of God. In John 14:9, He said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." His life and ministry provided us with a direct glimpse into the nature of God as a loving Father.

When we call God "Father," it carries profound meaning. A father is a provider, protector, and source of identity. Matthew 7:11 reminds us, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Jesus came to demonstrate that we have a Father in heaven who cares deeply for us and is eager to bless and guide us.

Jesus came to demonstrate that we have a Father in heaven who cares deeply for us.

The role of the Holy Spirit is crucial in revealing God’s Fatherhood through Jesus. In Matthew 1:20, the angel spoke to Joseph about Mary, saying, "For that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." This was the work of the Holy Spirit – making the impossible possible and bringing God’s presence into human form. The Holy Spirit enabled the incarnation of Christ, and later, at His baptism, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus, confirming God’s pleasure in His Son (Luke 3:22).

The open heavens during Jesus’ baptism signify the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit, we operate under open heavens, experiencing divine favor and breakthroughs in our lives. The Holy Spirit draws us into deeper intimacy with the Father, revealing His heart and making us sons and daughters led by His Spirit (Romans 8:14).

Today, let the Holy Spirit open your heart to the Father. You are loved, cared for, and guided by a perfect Father who desires to bless you abundantly. Just as Jesus revealed the Father, the Spirit now reveals Him to us. Let’s embrace this truth and live in the reality of God's fatherhood.
