Seeing by Faith

November 15, 2024

"And He brought him forth abroad, and said, look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and He said unto him, so shall thy seed be."

 - Genesis 15:5 KJV

Faith requires us to see, though not with our physical eyes, but through the lens of the Spirit. In Genesis 15, God gave Abram a vision of his future by asking him to look at the stars. He also presented the image of the dust of the earth, painting a picture of countless offspring for an aged and childless man. Despite the severity of his situation, God provided Abram with images he could connect his faith to, both day and night. That vision wasn’t just an illustration; it was a divine image planted in Abram's heart to help him overcome doubt and uncertainty.

Similarly, God gives us a picture of our future through His Word. In our walk with God, we must commit our minds to His Word and yield our hearts to the Holy Spirit to receive a vision for our lives. As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, God begins to paint that picture in our hearts – a dream or vision that will prevail over every circumstance. Just as Abraham connected with God’s plan through the images of stars and dust, we are called to meditate on the Word day and night to nurture the faith we have received. The essence of the Word is to shape our thoughts, speech, and actions. When we clearly see what God has revealed to us, it naturally influences our prayers, words, and outlook.

The key to walking in dominion lies in consistently nurturing the vision that the Word has planted in our minds.

The key to walking in dominion lies in consistently nurturing the vision that the Word has planted in our minds. As Jesus said in Matthew 7:25, even when obstacles arise or circumstances seem uncertain, we remain anchored in faith by holding fast to that God-given vision. When we see clearly through the lens of the Spirit, we are empowered to dominate any situation that comes our way. What God has shown us becomes the foundation of our confession and the source of our authority in prayer.

Make up your mind today to spend time studying God’s Word, trusting Him to open your spiritual eyes to the vision He wants to reveal. Also, commit your heart to what He shows you. As you see by the Spirit, you are taking the first steps toward dominion.

God, I look to you.

I won’t be overwhelmed

Give me vision

To see things like you do

Song: God I look to You by Jenn Johnson

Prayer - Lord, open my eyes to see what You have ordained for me in Your Word. Show me the picture of Your plan for this situation and help me to align my thoughts, speech and actions to the truth of Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
