The Assurance of Jesus’ Resurrection

April 18, 2025

"Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. "

 Hebrews 8:1-3 (NKJV)

The resurrection of Jesus Christ does more than assure us of His victory over death; it establishes Him as our representative in heaven. Unlike Job, who faced accusations from Satan without an intercessor, we have a High Priest and Advocate who continually works on our behalf. Jesus’ resurrection ensures He actively represents us in heaven as both our High Priest and our Advocate, providing profound assurance of our salvation.

Jesus as Our High Priest

In the Old Testament, the high priest presented offerings and sacrifices to God for the people. Through His resurrection, Jesus has elevated this role to a new, eternal dimension.

He Presents Our Prayers and Offerings:

“For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; therefore, it is necessary that this One also have something to offer.” – Hebrews 8:3 (NKJV)

Every time you pray or give, Jesus presents it to the Father as your High Priest. When you pray, He says, “Father, this is from My child.” When you give, He adds, “Father, see their sacrifice; bless their life.”

But in Him, our guilt is erased, our sins forgiven, and we are declared righteous.

He Represents Us with His Blood:

Jesus approaches the Father, not with animal sacrifices, but with His own blood—eternally speaking forgiveness and mercy on our behalf. His sacrifice is complete and final, ensuring we are continually cleansed and forgiven.

Jesus as Our Advocate

An Advocate pleads our case, defending us against accusations. In our spiritual battles, Jesus’ role as our advocate is vital. While Satan, the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10), seeks to condemn us, Jesus stands firm: “My blood has paid for that.”

“Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” – Romans 8:33-34 (NKJV)

He Restores Us When We Fall:

“If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” – 1 John 2:1 (NKJV)

While we strive for holiness, anytime we err. Instead of condemnation, we have an Advocate who restores us. Jesus doesn’t condone sin but ensures we are not destroyed by it. His advocacy means you are never alone; even in mistakes, He actively works to restore your fellowship with the Father.

The Beauty of the Gospel: Jesus Rescues Us

Without Jesus, no one could stand before God. Hebrews 9:27 reminds us that after death comes judgment, and without Christ, every person would be found guilty. But in Him, our guilt is erased, our sins forgiven, and we are declared righteous.

Prayer -  Lord Jesus, thank You for Your resurrection, which assures me that You are representing me in heaven. Thank You for being my High Priest, presenting my prayers and sacrifices to the Father. Thank You for being my Advocate and defending me against every accusation. Help me to walk boldly in the confidence of Your representation and to live a life that reflects Your victory. In Your name, Amen.
