“For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
- 1 John 3:8b (NKJV)
The blessing of God’s presence in our lives is a divine force that dismantles the works of the enemy wherever we go, often without us even realizing it. God’s presence brings protection, redemption, and victory over darkness in every area of our lives. This truth serves as a source of encouragement and hope, reminding us that God is always with us, actively working for our good.
The story of Joseph beautifully illustrates the power of God’s presence. His brothers, fuelled by jealousy, plotted to kill him, but the blessing of God’s presence transformed their evil intentions into a stepping stone for his destiny. In Genesis 39:2, we read, “The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man.” Even in Potiphar’s house and later in prison, God’s presence remained with Joseph. What appeared to be misfortune was part of God’s divine plan, demonstrating that His presence can rescue us, even in dire circumstances. When you feel like you’re enduring a “bad deal,” remember that God is at work, turning things around for your good.
God’s presence actively dismantles darkness in your life.
Jacob also experienced the blessing of God’s presence. In Genesis 48:16, he speaks of “the angel of God’s presence” who redeemed him from all evil, a blessing that extended to his descendants, Manasseh and Ephraim. Additionally, when Laban pursued Jacob with harmful intentions, Laban admitted in Genesis 31:29, “It is in my power to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last night.” The terror of God prevented Laban from executing his plan. This same protective presence is available to us as believers.
God’s presence is not just a passive gift; it actively dismantles darkness in your body, family, finances, and all areas of your life. Hebrews 13:5-6 assures us: “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So, we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’”
Today, take time to reflect on the areas of your life where you feel overwhelmed or under attack. Declare God’s promises over those situations, remembering that His presence is with you. Pray for His blessing to destroy every work of darkness.

I just want to be where you are
Dwelling daily in your presence
I don't want to worship from afar
Draw me near to where you are
