In that day the remnant of Israel, the survivors of Jacob, will no longer rely on him who struck them down but will truly rely on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty God. Though your people be like the sand by the sea, Israel, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overwhelming and righteous.
- Isaiah 10:20-22
Yesterday we explored the quality of trusting in God as being central to God’s remnant. We continue today by considering another key characteristic of the remnant of God—their spiritual position as heirs of The Promise.
The grace-chosen remnant are heirs of the promise God made to Abraham. Galatians 3:29 makes this point clearly to us as Christians declaring to that “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (NIV) Another version says: “Now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you” (NLT)
God chose us before the foundations of the world were ever laid. He paid a great price by dying on a cross to give us new life in Christ.
We were set apart and chosen—we, believers in Christ are a chosen remnant. God chose us before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-6), It's not that God got stuck with us, it's not that God settled for us, neither is it that God ended up with us. It's not that God tolerated us. God chose us before the foundations of the world were ever laid. He paid a great price by dying on a cross to give us new life in Christ.
And all this was given to us freely. Ephesians 2:8 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith. We are a grace-chosen remnant—saved unto The Mighty God.
Realize today that you are a Christian, not by accident, by a deliberate choice by the Almighty God. You are truly, in every sense of the word, chosen.
What is your response to knowing that an Almighty, All-Powerful God chose you to be a part of His select remnant? And what should this lead to for you?

My Response. Song by Phil Thompson
Prayer - Lord, help me to realize every day how much You love me and how much You have invested into making me Your own. Let me always remember that I am saved by grace through faith, and that Your grace is always available to me. Halleluyah!
