The Immutability of God

"That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us."

 - Hebrews 6:18 (NKJV)

In Jeremiah 32:27, God poses a powerful rhetorical question: "Is there anything too hard for Me?" This question isn't meant to challenge us but to reassure us of His limitless power. Our greatest challenges, which seem insurmountable to us, are mere trivialities to the Almighty God.

From God's viewpoint, our most daunting problems are nothing more than simple equations. Picture your child bringing you a basic math problem with great anxiety, and you calmly assure them it's easy. This is how God sees our struggles — effortlessly solvable with His infinite wisdom and power.

While God can do anything, there are things He cannot do, rooted in His perfect nature. These "good impossibilities" provide a foundation for our faith. For example, Titus 1:2 declares that God "cannot lie." This isn't a limitation but a testament to His absolute truthfulness.

Is there anything too hard for Me?" This question isn't meant to challenge us but to reassure us of His limitless power.

God's inability to lie is a cornerstone of our faith. When He speaks, His words are absolute truth. This truth should shift something within us when we face life's difficulties. Consider a medical diagnosis that seems grim. While acknowledging the reality of the doctor's report, we also turn to 1 Peter 2:24, which tells us that by Jesus' stripes, we are healed. We are then faced with a choice: which report will we believe? Knowing that God cannot lie helps us stand firm in His promises.

When Scripture tells us something about our identity or our future, we can hold onto it with unwavering confidence because it is impossible for God to lie. For instance, when the Bible says we are the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13), we can approach any situation with the assurance that we are positioned for success and leadership.

Understanding that God cannot lie transforms how we face our problems. Every promise in the Bible becomes a solid rock on which we stand. When God says we are healed, blessed, protected, or provided for, these aren't just comforting words—they are divine guarantees.

As you go about your day, remember the impossibilities of God. He cannot lie, and His promises are true (2 Corinthians 1:20) Whatever challenges you face, know that they are not too hard for Him. Lay your problems before God and trust in His unchanging nature. His power and faithfulness will see you through.
