The Law of Light

November 19, 2024

"Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light."

- Genesis 1:3 NKJV

Read Luke 24:13-35

To truly understand the law of light, we must go back to the beginning and see how God applied this law in the creation journey. When God saw that darkness was over the earth and everything was chaotic, the first thing He introduced was light. In the Bible, light represents illumination, knowledge, and the presence of God. Today, we will take a deeper look at this concept of light and how it applies to our lives.

Light provides visibility and creates a distinction between order and chaos. Imagine coming into your home and finding it completely dark, with no guidance on where to go or what to do. That is the power of light. This light can either be knowledge or the presence of God.

In Luke 24:13-35, on the road to Emmaus, Jesus was conversing with two followers after His resurrection. Despite being physically present with them, they could not recognize Him because the light of the knowledge of Him was not there until He broke bread with them. God has placed you in that place, in that situation, so you can manifest light. There is a form of knowledge you must demonstrate that will bring about a shift in your life, family, and the world at large.

Shine! Pursue God's knowledge and bring light to your life and the world.

When you pursue the knowledge of God in all circumstances, you become a solution provider, and new discoveries and ideas are birthed. Like the followers in Emmaus, who had Jesus but could not discern His presence, many have missed relationships and business opportunities, and many are currently sitting on a goldmine because they do not allow that light to radiate through them. Beloved, shine!

Lastly, the law of light requires that you cannot keep silent about your desired outcomes. 1 John 1:5 (NIV) says, "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." It is the same God, the same light speaking in Genesis 1:3, our anchor text for today. If we are to interpose both scriptures, we could read it as, "The Light said, let there be light…." God, the light, did not just ‘assume’ the light would automatically shine; He made a bold pronouncement through the spoken word. Why have you kept silent when things seem not to be going your way? When was the last time you took a few minutes to consistently confess and declare what you want to see?

Today’s devotional comes with a call to action! Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see what He has already provided for you that would cause a breakthrough in your life. Make those positive confessions about what you want to see. As you go out today, may your light shine, and may you increase in the knowledge of our Lord, in Jesus' name.

Song of Worship

Give me oil in my lamp

May my light never be dim

Keep me burning

Keep me burning

Until the coming of the King

Give me oil Song by Minister Joe Mettle and Pastor Nathaniel Bassey

Prayer: Lord, remove every darkness and veil from my eyes. Open my eyes to see, know and understand what I need to do at this time. This day, let my light so shine before men and let it no longer be hidden.
