The Power of Focused Faith

February 04, 2025

“And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”

- Acts 3:4 (NKJV)

Faith that produces results requires focus. In Acts 3, a beggar was scattered in his attention, asking for alms from everyone passing by. Peter and John redirected his focus by saying, “Look at us!” This call to attention became the gateway to his miracle. Similarly, to harness the force of faith, you must center your spiritual energy on God’s Word, His Presence and HIs promises.

Focus is more than just physical attention – it is spiritual sensitivity. Like a laser beam, focus gathers scattered energy and directs it toward a specific target. Without focus, faith can become unstable and unproductive.

We are to focus on Jesus. As we are instructed in Hebrews 12:2: fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

When we lack focus, we dilute our spiritual energy, making it difficult to stand firm in faith or achieve tangible results. The Bible warns against instability in Genesis 49:4 (NKJV), describing Reuben as "unstable as water," unable to excel. James 1:8 (NKJV) further teaches that a double-minded person is unstable and cannot receive anything from God.

Faith flourishes and becomes effective when anchored by unwavering focus on God.

In 2 Kings 2:10 (NKJV), Elisha’s ability to receive a double portion of Elijah’s spirit hinged on his focus. Elijah told him, “If you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you.”

The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:27-28 exemplified laser-like focus as she pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus’ garment. Her faith, grounded in focused determination, drew power from Him and resulted in her healing.

In Acts 14:9 (NKJV), we read, “This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed.” The man’s focused attention caught Paul’s eye, and through that faith, a miracle followed.

Avoid being spiritually scattered. Jumping from one activity to another or overloading yourself with information can dilute your faith. Faith flourishes and becomes effective when anchored by unwavering focus on God.

Anchor your thoughts on God’s promises. Meditate on specific scriptures related to your needs or situations and trust God to act.

Stay committed to a routine of prayer and worship, aligning your heart with God. By doing so, you cultivate a focused faith that can move mountains and transform your circumstances.

Stand in Faith

Song by Danny Gokey

Prayer -  Lord, I ask for the grace to focus on You. Help me eliminate distractions and give my undivided attention to Your promises and presence. Teach me to anchor my faith and remain steadfast, knowing that You are faithful to deliver. In Jesus' name, amen.
