The Spiritual Influencer

And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant: because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities. Luke 19:17, NKJV

In today’s world, the term “Influencer” often conjures images of individuals with a significant following and social media influence, promoting various brands and lifestyles. As a Christian, and a child of God, you also hold influence, but of a different kind. You are called to make an impact and a difference. Your responsibility is to discover the unique gifts God has bestowed upon you, using them to influence your surroundings for the Kingdom of God. Indeed, you are the influencer the world has been awaiting (Romans 8:19). God has entrusted us with resources, talents, and opportunities, expecting us to utilize them for His glory by spreading His love and His word to those around us.

The first step to becoming a Spiritual Influencer is embracing what you've been given and employing it in service to others. As stated in 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV), "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” By embracing the resources bestowed upon us, we acknowledge that God is the source of all we possess.

The second step to becoming a Spiritual Influencer is committing to spiritual growth. What does this entail? It involves taking your relationship with Jesus seriously, actively seeking avenues for Christian growth. This may include daily prayer and meditation on God's Word, such as the daily 5am prayers we conduct at NCA (Psalm 1:2-3), as well as fellowship with other believers in a Life Group (Hebrews 10:24-25). Consider how different things might have been for the servant had he valued his relationship with his Master or engaged with his fellow servants; perhaps he would have learned of their efforts to multiply their minas or talents.

The first step to becoming a Spiritual Influencer is embracing what you've been given and employing it in service to others.

The third step to becoming a Spiritual Influencer is overcoming fear and imposter syndrome. In Luke 19:21, the servant's fear of the Master prevented him from taking action with his mina. Fear can paralyze us, hindering us from fulfilling our God-given calling. Just as the Master called his servants to a greater purpose than mere servanthood, God also calls us to something greater.

Don’t allow fear of failure or comparison to dictate your decisions. Franklin D. Roosevelt famously said, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.” Something greater awaits you beyond fear. Remember, it's not by your power or might, but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). When God calls you, He equips you for the task.

Becoming a Spiritual Influencer is not about self-elevation, but about making an eternal impact and drawing others into the Kingdom of God. Strive to live in a manner that reflects the love of God and His Kingdom. Our Master, God, has entrusted us with talents, and we must not bury them out of fear but use them to influence the world around us.

Today, choose to rise above fear with faith, knowing that God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Song of Worship

Your life's a book before their eyes, They're reading it through and through; Say, does it point them to the skies, Do others see Jesus in you?

Let others see Jesus in you, Let others see Jesus in you; Keep telling the story, be faithful and true, Let others see Jesus in you.

Song: Let Others See Jesus in You by B. B. McKinney

Prayer - Lord, in moments of doubt and fear, let the truth of Your Word be the lens through which we see our potential to influence the world for Your Kingdom. Help us to not shrink back in fear but to move forward in faith, knowing that You are with us and You are for us. So it is, and shall be in Jesus' name Amen
