The Tenacity of Faith

May 09, 2025

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

 -  Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Faith is the foundation of our Christian journey. Without it, we cannot even begin our walk with God. But what does it mean to have a faith that is tenacious, rugged, and triumphant over every situation? Faith is judging God as faithful - fully trusting that what He has said, He will do. It is the confidence we place in God and His Word!

The story of Sarah in Genesis 21:1-7 is a powerful testimony of faith in action. Scripture tells us, “And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.” God had promised Sarah a child, and despite her old age and years of barrenness, He fulfilled His Word. Her response in verse 6 captures the joy of fulfilled faith: “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.” When faith produces results, it brings undeniable celebration. Just like Sarah, when we see God’s promises come to pass in our lives, our joy overflows, and those around us rejoice with us.

It is the confidence we place in God and His Word!

Psalm 126:1-3 paints a beautiful picture of this celebration: “When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing.” There is a deep sense of joy when God moves in response to our faith. It feels surreal, like a dream come true. When our prayers are answered and our expectations exceeded, our faith is vindicated, and our hearts overflow with praise.

However, faith is not only about the moment of victory; it also endures trials. Many times, before faith produces visible results, it is tested. The journey of faith is not always smooth; there are seasons of waiting, challenges, and moments when everything seems contrary to God’s promises.

Over the next few days, we will explore the trials of faith and how to remain steadfast through them. Today, let this truth anchor your heart: faith is a declaration that God is faithful! No matter what you are facing, choose to trust Him. Remind yourself of His promises and judge Him faithful in every situation. If you are waiting for a breakthrough, hold on - your testimony is on the way! And when your faith produces results, may your mouth be filled with laughter and celebration in Jesus’ name!

Song of Worship

He has promised He will never fail.

I will trust in Him, I will trust in Him.

My God has promised He will never fail,

His faithfulness is forever more,

His faithfulness is forever more.

Prayer -  Father, honor my faith and fill my life with laughter and celebration in Jesus' name- Amen.
