“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know (NKJV)” - Acts 2:22
In our journey of faith, the testimony of Jesus serves as a powerful reminder of God’s presence and love. Today, we begin a four-part devotional series that explores the testimony of Jesus through His works.
A testimony is a witness--something that speaks to confirm the truth of something else. It is a record, and one of the primary ways the testimony of Jesus manifests is through His actions and miracles. The works of Jesus reveal His divine mandate, compassion, and authority.
When we examine these works, we gain glimpses of God’s character – His love for the broken-hearted, His compassion for the needy, and His power over sickness and sin. Jesus’s miracles were not only signs of His deity; they conveyed a profound message: we are loved, valued, and seen by a God who cares deeply for our lives. As Jesus states in John 10:25 (NKJV), “The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.” His life stands as a testament to the Father’s love and serves as a call to live in faith, trusting that God is always at work.
One of the beautiful truths about the testimony of Jesus is that His works are not merely historical records found in the Bible. God is actively involved in our lives, and we have access to the same works of Jesus today.
John 5:36 (NKJV) further emphasizes the alignment of Jesus’s works with the heart of God: “But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish, the very works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.” Each miracle and act of love Jesus performed testified to His divine mission. Through His works, Jesus unveiled the heart of God and His desire to draw us closer.
One of the beautiful truths about the testimony of Jesus is that His works are not merely historical records found in the Bible. God is actively involved in our lives, and we have access to the same works of Jesus today. Over the next few days, we will delve deeper into three key themes: the dominion of Jesus, the deity of Jesus, and our duty to Him. Each theme reveals a different aspect of the testimony and works of Jesus.
Today, let’s set our hearts on recognizing the power of Jesus’s works as a witness in our own lives. As you move through your day, reflect on how God may be at work in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of your life. Pray with expectation, asking God to confirm His words through miracles, signs, and wonders that reveal His goodness. Remember, each work of Jesus is an invitation to draw nearer to Him and experience His love firsthand.
Song of Worship
Everywhere He went He was doing good, Almighty Healer He healed the leapers, When the cripples saw Him they started walking
Even today my Lord is doing good
Prayer - Father, confirm Your words with miracles, signs, and wonders as I encounter Jesus today. Let my life be a record of Your goodness, testifying to Your power and love. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
