The name of Jesus holds unparalleled power and authority. Scripture affirms that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow” - Philippians 2:10 (NKJV). Yet, many believers today may not experience the miraculous results seen in the early Church. Why is that?
Honor is the key that unlocks the door to the supernatural. The way we treat the name of Jesus often reveals a lack of reverence. We may use it casually, perhaps as an exclamation or even in jest, without recognizing the profound weight and power it carries.
In Mark 6:4-5 (NKJV), Jesus was dishonored in His hometown, resulting in His inability to perform mighty works there. When we fail to honor the name of Jesus, we effectively shut the door against His power and the miraculous is cut off.
The name of Jesus is not a magical incantation. It wields its power through those who have a deep, intimate relationship with Him. The seven sons of Sceva attempted to invoke the power in His name without truly knowing Him, and the result was disastrous – Acts 19:13-16.
The name of Jesus carries life-changing power. Honor it and watch it transform your life!
Deepen your relationship with Jesus by engaging in prayer, worship, and immersing yourself in His Word. Clearly, a more intimate connection magnifies the power of Jesus’ name in our life. Calling on His name while maintaining a casual or transactional relationship limits its impact.
Consider Queen Esther, whose relationship with King Xerxes granted her favor when she sought help. Similarly, as the Bride of Christ, our intimate connection with Him ensures that He will act on our behalf.
Move beyond merely asking for things. Spend time in God's presence to nurture your relationship with Him. Let your prayers flow from a heart that loves Him, rather than just a list of requests.
Avoid casual or irreverent use of the name of Jesus. Speak it with respect and awe. Honor the name of Jesus by living a life that reflects His holiness and love. Use His name with faith and boldness; when you call on the name of Jesus, believe that His power is at work and will accomplish His purpose.
