The Unseen Battle: Standing Firm in God's Protection

September 21, 2024

“And he took up his oracle and said: ‘Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, From the mountains of the east. ‘Come, curse Jacob for me, And come, denounce Israel!’”

 - Numbers 23:7 (NKJV)

You are terrifying to the enemy! You might just be living your life, minding your business and just loving God, but make no mistake—the enemy is terrified of you as a Christian and as a child of God. And this terror means that, even when you are unaware of it, the enemy is seeking ways to influence and manipulate.

In our anchor scripture we read about how the enemy of Israel sought to influence the lives of God's people negatively. In verse 27 Balaam was declaring how The King of Moab—an enemy of Israel-- had essentially recruited him (Balaam) to place a curse on Israel.

Why did the King of Moab do this? The answer is in Numbers 22:3 which says:

"And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel. "

The enemy is terrified of you as a Christian and as a child of God

The people of Israel represent the church. And just like many believers today, the children of Israel were living their lives in the covenant of God, most likely unaware of the unholy alliance being created against them, and the vigorous efforts of their enemies to overthrow them.

The aim of this alliance was to impose spiritual manipulation through the means of a curse. Our anchor scripture shows how possible it is to have enemies you are not even aware of plotting and scheming against you. Realize that these attacks do not need to be out in the open. The curses do not need to be spoken to your face. Your enemy, in their terror of the power and potential you carry, can launch attacks and release words as arrows from afar in a bid to affect your life and destiny.

We should not be ignorant of the devises of the enemy. As Christians, we should not be careless, we must stay alert and vigilant in the place of prayer.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary - the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (I Peter 5:8)."

But we have victory in God and in Christ. Just like God frustrated the alliance of Moab and Balaam the sorcerer, every unholy alliance against us as Christians will be frustrated now and forever. Amen!

In Jesus Name

Song by Israel Houghton

Prayer - Almighty God, I thank You for Your protection over my life. Help me to remain vigilant and prayerful, aware of the enemy’s schemes but confident in Your victory. Frustrate every unholy alliance and plan against me, and let Your divine protection shield me from harm. In Jesus' name, Amen.
