Trusting in the Omega

July 11, 2024

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

Revelation 22:13

The concept of God being the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega, is a profound truth that runs throughout the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, and Omega is the last. When Jesus says He is the Alpha and the Omega, He is declaring that He is both the source and the culmination of all things. This devotional explores the significance of God as the Omega and how we can encounter Him in this role in our lives.

In Revelation 22:13, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last”, by identifying Himself as the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, He assures us that He encompasses all of time and existence. It emphasizes God’s eternal nature and His sovereign control over all things. This means that everything begins with Him and ultimately ends with Him. This revelation is a source of immense comfort and assurance for believers, knowing that our Lord is in control from the start to the finish of our lives.

There are moments in life when we fervently wish for certain challenges to end. Whether it is a lingering illness, persistent financial difficulties, or ongoing relational strife, we long for resolution and peace. Our hope and assurance come from knowing that Jesus, as Omega, is not only the beginning but also the end. He has already seen the conclusion of our struggles and is committed to bringing them to a victorious end.

We can call upon Jesus, our Omega, to bring an end to our struggles. The Bible tells us in Daniel 2:21 that God changes times and seasons. God is not only the Creator of all things but also the One who governs the flow of time. He knows the right moments to end certain seasons in our lives and the time to usher in new seasons. When we pray, we ask Omega to intervene and complete what we are unable to do.

Knowing that Jesus is Omega means understanding that He is already at the end of our journey. He is there to supervise and ensure that our story ends in praise. This gives us confidence that no matter what we are facing, it will ultimately conclude with a testimony of God’s goodness.

While we navigate through life’s challenges, we can rest assured that Jesus, the Omega, is with us. He has seen the end from the beginning and is committed to bringing our struggles to a victorious conclusion. Let us trust in His timing and power, knowing that He is faithful to complete what He has begun.

Song of Worship

You are Alpha and Omega

We worship You our Lord

You are worthy

To be praised

Prayer -  Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift my struggles to You. I ask that Omega, the One who completes all things, bring an end to my difficulties. May every challenge I face conclude in praise. I trust in Your sovereign power and timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
