Understanding the Ministry of Healing

April 24, 2025

" But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us"

- 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NKJV)

A common misconception about the ministry of healing is the belief that the person administering the healing must be perfect. This notion is fundamentally untrue. The Bible reminds us in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." No one, including pastors, reverends, bishops, or general overseers, is without sin—except for Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:15), who now sits at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 10:12-13).

Just because Jesus is in Heaven does not mean that healing cannot occur on Earth. Upon His ascension, He left us the Holy Spirit (John 14:16), who continues to perform miraculous healings through whomever He chooses. Many biblical figures through whom God performed healings were far from perfect. Paul persecuted the church, Peter denied Jesus, Matthew was a tax collector, and Thomas doubted Christ’s resurrection.

No one, including pastors, reverends, bishops, or general overseers, is without sin—except for Jesus Christ.

Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, is described in John 12:4-6 as a thief. Yet, this same Judas was part of the group that Jesus anointed with power and authority in Luke 9:1-2: “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9:6 further states, “So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere,” including Judas Iscariot—the thief who would later betray Jesus.

When it comes to healing, our focus should not be on the person administering it. If we fixate on the vessel instead of the Source, we risk missing the manifestation of the supernatural in our lives. Our attention should be directed toward God’s power to restore health.

The minister is merely a vessel. As stated in 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” The earthen vessel may not appear perfect; it could be cracked, leaking, or lack social status. However, what truly matters is the treasure within—the extraordinary power of God to heal.

Prayer -  Dear Lord, I cancel every wrongly held thought or belief about your anointed ministers needing to be perfect to heal. Regardless of their person, I receive my healing in Jesus’ name. Amen.
