Unlawful Rest IV – Results during Divine Assignment

" The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.”

- 1 Kings 13:5 (NKJV)

When we carry out our divine assignment according to God’s guidance, we achieve results. While opposition may arise along the way, it neither lasts nor prevails because of God’s protection.  His assurance enables us to overcome obstacles and complete the assignment, demonstrating results of the finished work.

The results are the crowning achievement of the assignment given by God. They underscore the truth that it was indeed God who entrusted us with the task from the beginning. However, the execution of the assignment is not aways straightforward. It often involves twists and turns on the part to accomplishment.

To navigate these challenges, consistency and persistence are essential. Paul describes this process as ‘pressing on’ or ‘pressing toward’ in Philippians 3:12-14 “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.  Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”.

Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.

The young prophet from Judah, sent by God to prophesy against the altar in Bethel, pressed on with his God-given assignment despite King Jeroboam’s opposition to arrest him (1Kings 13:5,6). Similarly, Moses—who at several points wanted to step away from his God’s given task--pressed on with God’s help, leading the Israelites out of Egypt (Exodus 3,4,5,14). Even Jesus, who knew the immense suffering ahead of His crucifixion pressed on in prayer (Luke 23:41-44).

Regardless of the scale or complexity of the assignment, we must press on. It is not enough to hold on to God’s word at the moment of commissioning and expect results to manifest effortlessly. Instead, we are called to dedicate ourselves wholly to the assignment as instructed in 1 Timothy 4:15  “Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all”.

As long as we remain consistency and persistence, avoiding unlawful rests and pressing on with God’s help, the results will surely manifest. The journey may be challenging, but with unwavering commitment and reliance on God’s protection, we will see the results of our divine assignments.

  Song of Worship

God cannot lie,

His word will surely come to pass

(He would never lie)

Because He is not a man

Prayer -  Dear Lord, strengthen me to press on with consistency and persistence, taking no unlawful rests that I may achieve results for Your divine assignment in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
