Unlocking Power in our Words

May 07, 2025

"For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

 -  Matthew 12:37 (NIV)

In gaming, power-ups provide players with enhanced capabilities, such as increased speed, strength, or even extra lives. These power-ups create exciting moments, giving players an advantage. What if I told you that in real life, you can have those power-ups every single day, and you will never run out? Today, we will explore how we can speak words that align with God’s Word and experience this power daily.

First, we must declare Scripture over our lives every day, speaking God’s promises consistently. There is tremendous power when we align our words with God’s truth. Isaiah 55:11 (ERV) states, “In the same way, my words leave my mouth, and they don’t come back without results. My words make the things happen that I want to happen.” When we speak God’s Word, we release His power into our lives (Hosea 14:2).

When we speak God’s Word, we release His power into our lives.

Next, we must be vocal in rejecting negative talk and doubt. Silence these thoughts and do not give them room to grow. 2 Corinthians 10:5 encourages us to “cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.” Psalm 34:13 urges us to avoid speaking evil. We must take responsibility for our words and be mindful of our speech. Replace “I can’t” with “By God’s grace, I can,” because death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

Finally, our words should uplift both ourselves and others. Before speaking, pause and ask, “Is this kind? Will it edify the person hearing it?” Colossians 4:6 reminds us that our speech should always be gracious. Ephesians 4:29 instructs us that nothing corrupt or harmful should come from our mouths. Use the Ephesians 4:29 filter when speaking. Surround yourself with people like Joshua and Caleb, who encourage wholesome talk. Walk with the wise to avoid harm (Proverbs 13:20).

This week, intentionally align your words with the Word of God. Let your speech reflect your belief and faith in the Lord. Our words are alive and can shape our realities. Choose an area in your life where you want to experience God’s power. Find scriptures to support it, write them down, and place them where you can see them daily. Each day, declare these verses with prayer, authority, and faith, and watch as those words transform your reality.

Prayer -  I have dominion, I walk in dominion, I experience the irreversible blessings of God. In the name of Jesus, the blessings of God gain expression in my life, I am fruitful, I multiply and fill the earth. I receive grace to subdue matters. From today, my mouth you speak good things, no more negativity in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen
