“So the young woman ran and told her mother’s household these things.”
- Genesis 24:28 (NKJV)
Excitement is a powerful way to show appreciation, love, and joy. When you express genuine excitement about someone, you affirm their value and importance in your life. For relationships, this principle can be transformative. Whether dating, engaged or married, showing excitement toward your partner strengthens the bond and keeps love alive.
Rebekah’s response when meeting Abraham’s servant in Genesis 24:28 shows her enthusiasm. After learning about his mission, she didn’t hold back—she ran to share the news with her family. Similarly, in Genesis 29:12 (NKJV), Rachel ran with excitement to inform her father about Jacob’s arrival. “And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s relative and that he was Rebekah’s son. So she ran and told her father”.
These examples highlight the joy and energy that excitement brings to relationships. For men, being greeted with excitement makes them feel honored and valued. Excitement uplifts the atmosphere in a home or relationship. A joyful “Welcome home!” or genuine interest in your partner’s day can brighten their mood after a long day.
Excitement is a language of love that speaks directly to the heart.
Imagine the difference between a lackluster “You’re back?” versus a heartfelt “Welcome home! I’m so happy to see you!” Excitement draws people closer, while indifference creates distance.
Men, like women, crave acknowledgment and appreciation. Showing excitement about their goals, hobbies, or presence fosters a deeper connection and encourages them to share more with you.
For example, if your partner is passionate about a specific interest—be it sports, work, or a hobby—take time to learn about it and show enthusiasm. Your engagement in what they love communicates respect and admiration.
In long-term relationships, it’s easy to take each other for granted. However, intentionally showing excitement can rekindle the passion and joy of earlier days. When a husband comes home, tired from work, a wife who greets him warmly and excitedly makes him feel valued. Conversely, indifference may make him feel unappreciated.
Excitement is a language of love that speaks directly to the heart. When you show enthusiasm for your partner, you remind them that they are cherished, celebrated, and deeply loved. Let your excitement reflect God's joy over His children!
Song of Worship
Jesus & You
Song by Matthew West
Prayer - Lord, thank You for the relationships You have placed in my life. Help me to express joy and excitement toward those I love, just as You rejoice over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). Teach me to show appreciation, foster connection, and reflect Your love through my actions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
