"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”

 -  Hebrews 11:13 (NKJV)

Faith is more than just receiving promises; it is about holding onto God even when those promises have not yet materialized. Hebrews 11:13 reminds us that many heroes of faith died without seeing the fulfillment of God’s promises, yet they remained steadfast. Does this mean their faith was in vain? Absolutely not! Verses 33-35 recount powerful testimonies of individuals who, through faith, conquered kingdoms and obtained promises. However, the passage also speaks of others who suffered and even died in faith (Hebrews 11:36-39). Their faith was no less significant than that of those who experienced victories!

Consider the example of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:34. Imagine that the crowd was so great that she could not reach the hem of Jesus’s garment. Let’s assume she died on her way home without ever touching Him. Did she lack faith? No! Her faith was in Jesus, not just in the outcome.

The faith we possess transcends this earthly realm.

Faith is the currency of the supernatural. Hebrews 10:35-39 exhorts us not to throw away our confidence, as it carries a great reward. Sometimes, we equate faith with immediate success, but God sees faith differently. Our faith is never wasted. Even if we do not see the answers here on earth, there is a reward for our faith in eternity. Revelation 6:9 speaks of martyrs who held onto God’s word until the end. Martyrs are not only those who were killed for the sake of the gospel, but also those who remained faithful to God's word. The faith we possess transcends this earthly realm.

Whatever you are going through today, know that it is only a light affliction compared to the glory ahead (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). If you have trusted God for something and it did not happen as you expected, do not believe your faith was in vain. Every prayer, every step of obedience, every moment of faithfulness—God sees it all. Keep believing. Your faith is never wasted. Whether in this life or in eternity, God rewards those who remain steadfast in their faith.

Song of Worship

My hope is built on nothing else.

On Christ the solid rock I stand,

All other ground is sinking sand

Prayer -  Father, help me to always remember that my faith is never wasted. I will receive my reward both here on earth and in eternity in Jesus’ name, amen.
