The Power of Your Thoughts

Your life moves in the direction of your thoughts. The Bible states, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7 KJV). Your thoughts shape your actions, and your actions determine your results.
In Philippians 2:5-8, we find a blueprint for the mind of Christ. To live victoriously as believers, we must think as Jesus did. Let’s explore what this entails.

Jesus' Mind Was Governed by Right Thinking
The scripture tells us, “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God” (Philippians 2:6 KJV). This reveals that Jesus had a clear understanding of His identity. His thoughts were free from doubt and confusion—He was certain of who He was and His purpose.
Right thinking begins with knowing your identity in Christ. Many individuals struggle in life because they lack awareness of their worth in God’s eyes. If you don’t think positively about yourself, you will inevitably live below your potential. What are your thoughts about yourself?
Jesus' Mind Was Governed by Right Decisions
“But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant” (Philippians 2:7 KJV). Jesus chose to humble Himself. This decision was voluntary; He willingly embraced the role of a servant.
Every action begins with a decision. The quality of your decisions is directly linked to the quality of your thinking. Are you making choices based on faith, wisdom, and God’s Word? Or are your decisions influenced by fear, doubt, and emotions?
Jesus' Mind Was Governed by Right Emotions
The cross was filled with intense emotions—pain, betrayal, and suffering. Yet, Jesus managed His emotions and remained obedient: “He humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:8 KJV).
Often, we allow our emotions to dictate our decisions. Jesus teaches us that maturity comes from leading our emotions rather than being led by them. How do you respond to offense? Do you give up when challenges arise? Thinking like Christ means prioritizing obedience over feelings.

Engaging Your Mind for Transformation
Thinking like Christ is a discipline. Here are three ways to engage your mind for transformation:
1. Meditation
"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success" (Joshua 1:8 NKJV).
Meditation involves pondering God’s Word continuously. Deep thinking yields profound results.
2. Visualization
"And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do" (Genesis 11:6 KJV).
If you cannot envision yourself succeeding, growing, and fulfilling God’s plan, you will struggle to achieve it. Successful individuals often imagine their success before they see it.
3. Imagination
"Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20 KJV).
God has equipped us with the ability to dream, create, and strategize. Your imagination is a divine gift. Use it to envision yourself walking in victory.
