"What is man, that Thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that Thou dost care for him?”

 - Psalm 8:4 (RSV)

The word "mindful" means being fully present and aware of everything happening in the moment. It also implies not dwelling on the past and being thoughtful and attentive. Here’s the truth God wants you to embrace today: the Creator of the heavens, the moon, the stars, and all of creation is completely mindful of you. You are not just a number to Him; He is fully present, attentive, and intentional about every single detail of your life. With God, nothing about you goes unnoticed; you are never out of His sight, and His reassuring presence is always by your side (Psalm 139:2 MSG).

Psalm 139:17-19 reminds us that His thoughts toward us are precious and countless—more than the grains of sand. Fun fact: if you tried to count 7.5 quintillion grains of sand at a rate of one grain per second, it would take you 238 billion years to finish! For context, scientists estimate the universe is about 13.8 billion years old. Are you still interested in counting God's thoughts toward you?

His thoughts toward us are precious and countless—more than the grains of sand.

Another testament to God's mindfulness is His faithfulness in keeping promises. In Genesis 15:5 and Genesis 22:17, God speaks to Abraham, promising that his descendants will be as numerous as the grains of sand on the seashore. God fulfilled this promise despite Abraham and Sarah's old age. Joshua 21:45 reinforces this truth: "Not one of all the Lord's good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled." God also shows His mindfulness through His promise of restoration, as seen in Jeremiah 33:22: "But I will give many descendants to my servant David and to the tribe of Levi. They will be as many as the stars in the sky—no one can count all the stars. They will be as many as the grains of sand on the seashore—no one can count the grains of sand."

One of my favorite verses, 2 Corinthians 1:20 (AMPC), tells us: "For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes in Him." If you were to search for all of God’s promises in the Bible using Google or a generative AI model, you would find references, but they could never fulfill those promises. In Christ, you not only discover the promises but also their fulfillment.

The chorus of a beloved hymn proclaims, "I will not forget thee or leave thee; in my arms I'll hold thee; I will not forget thee or leave thee. I AM THY REDEEMER; I WILL CARE FOR YOU." Keep this thought in mind as you go about your day: God is mindful of you. Let this truth transform how you live and how you see yourself—not only in your mind but also in your heart. You matter to Him, and He is constantly thinking of you.

Prayer -  Lord, thank You for Your amazing thoughts toward me and for never leaving or forsaking me. Thank You for being mindful of me and caring about my life. Help me never to take for granted Your constant mindfulness and the beautiful plan You have for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
