You Are In Charge

"You have put him in charge of everything you made; everything is put under his authority"

 - Psalm 8:6 (TLB)

Many of you may recall the joy of being entrusted by your parents or teachers to take charge of your siblings or classmates, even if just for a few minutes. In those moments, your words became law, and anyone who dared to disobey faced consequences. This reflects the authority and dominion God has granted us, as seen in Psalm 8:6. This verse serves as a reminder of the instructions our Heavenly Father has given us to fulfill on earth. Through the finished work of Christ, we are restored as children of God, empowered to command our circumstances, align with God’s Word, and conquer every lie of the enemy, enabling us to live victorious lives.

We are created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). Psalm 115:16 (MSG) states, "The heaven of heavens is for God, but He put us in charge of the earth." We have been given the authority to command our circumstances. Consider Joshua and the Israelites, who marched all night to surprise the Amorites in battle. As the sun began to set, Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, and the Israelites went on to defeat their enemies (Joshua 10:12-13). Are you facing a looming deadline? Command that situation—God’s power is at work.

The command is clear: you have been left in charge

Our authority is exercised within the boundaries of God’s Word and wisdom. When Jesus was tempted by the devil to turn stones into bread, He responded by staying true to God’s Word: "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). God’s Word must always guide our actions. We must align ourselves with the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10) and adhere to the truth of Scripture. Our authority in Christ comes from the words God has spoken over us, placing us in charge.

Additionally, we have the ability to conquer and silence every lie of the enemy. Ephesians 4:27 and 1 John 3:8 remind us not to give the enemy a foothold. Our mission, as those left in charge, is to destroy all the works of the devil. This involves both defensive and offensive strategies. Just like in a game of chess or basketball, we must defend against the enemy's advances while also attacking the lies he spreads. We protect what we have and establish the Kingdom of God and His truth.

Our restored identity in Christ has given us the keys and authority to command situations, comply with God’s will, and conquer any lie of the enemy. The enemy may suggest shortcuts, as he did when tempting Jesus, but he cannot tempt us with what Christ has already given us. The command is clear: you have been left in charge. The words God spoke over Adam and Eve in Genesis 1:28 are the same words He speaks over you today: "God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'" Dominion is woven into our DNA as children of God.

Are there areas in your life where you are ready to take charge? Don’t miss the opportunity today to command and take control of your day.

Prayer -  I receive grace to take charge of the atmosphere in my home, in my office and business. I declare God’s authority and victory over every situation and over my circumstances. So it is and so shall it be in Jesus' mighty name we pray. Amen
